§ 2-11-27. Members and officers.

  • The county roads board shall consist of five (5) members, who shall serve without salary for five (5) year staggered terms. The first appointment of the Board of County Commissioners under this 1979 act shall be for terms of one to five (5) years and thereafter members shall be appointed for five (5) year terms. The terms of the present members of the Roads Board shall expire on the effective date of this 1979 act, provided that present members shall not be eligible for reappointment. A member of the board of county commissioners shall be an additional nonvoting, ex officio member of the roads board. The members of the roads board shall select a chairman. Appointments shall be made so that one member of the county roads board shall be appointed from each of the following five (5) geographical areas:
    (a) The election districts of Brunswick, Petersville, Jefferson, Ballenger, Buckeystown and Urbana.
    (b) The election districts of Middletown, Jackson, Catoctin, Burkittsville and Braddock.
    (c) The election districts of Hauvers, Emmitsburg, Thurmont and Creagerstown.
    (d) The election districts of Tuscarora, Lewistown, Woodsboro, Walkersville and Johnsville.
    (e) The election districts of Woodville, New Market, Frederick, Linganore, Liberty and Mt. Pleasant.
